Vibrantly colored composition, painted on linen canvas by Armand Tatossian (1951-2012). Tatossian's characteristic generous impasto and luminosity give this sailboat an immediate and energetic presence, an invitation to travel typical of his view of the world.
About the artist
Armand Tatossian (Alexandria, 1951 - Montreal, 2012) was a Canadian painter of Armenian origin, who settled in Montreal as a child. Introduced to painting by his grandfather, a curator at the Alexandria Museum, he then trained in Canada, France and Italy with masters such as Adam Sherriff-Scott and Jean Carzou. In 1973, he became the youngest artist admitted to the Royal Canadian Academy of Arts. His style, inspired by the Group of Seven but deeply personal, is distinguished by vibrant colors, rich texture and a unique luminous sensibility. His works are held in numerous public and private collections in Canada and internationally.
