Royal Doulton Queen Elizabeth I Pitcher

350.00$
Description
A beautiful English piece made by Royal Doulton with Queensware earthenware. The two different scenes on the sides of the pitcher are in relief and sprinkled with fleurs-de-lis. On one side, Queen Elizabeth I and on the other, a lion. Kingsware earthenware was developed by Charles Noke and produced between 1898 and 1939. No other manufacturer in the world managed to reproduce its exceptional brilliance. The rich brown shades of Kingsware glaze were achieved by painting the design with a colored slip inside the plaster mold, then pouring the dark terracotta slip into the molds and fusing it with the colored slip. The Queensware range was created using the same method, but instead of a dark terracotta slip, it uses an ivory base, and is considered the ideal complement to the Kingsware range. It was less popular than the Kingsware range. For this reason, fewer were produced. This means that today, Queensware pieces are very rare to find on the market and collectors adore them.
