About the artist
Born in Nicolet in 1891, Rodolphe Duguay trained at the Monument National in Montreal under the direction of Marc-Aurèle de Foy Suzor-Coté, a major figure in Quebec painting. Deeply attached to his roots, he defined himself as a "man of the land" and distinguished himself as a landscapist of Quebec rural life, while also producing an engraved body of work of great spiritual finesse. He died in 1973, leaving an artistic legacy well-documented in Canadian museum collections.
