Blown glass globe vase made by American artist Audrey Handler in 1974. Beautiful iridescent peacock feather-like patterns adorn the vase.
Audrey Handler began working with glass in 1965. She attended the School of Fine Arts and Applied Arts at Boston University, as well as earning a master's degree from the Art Department at the University of Wisconsin.
Audrey Handler was one of the first students of the renowned professor Harvey Littleton of the University of Wisconsin, a pioneer of the studio glass movement.
The studio glass movement is an art movement that originated in the United States in the 1960s. It freed glass art from factories, allowing artists to create unique sculptural works in small studios. Thanks to newly developed miniature furnaces and easy-to-melt glass, this movement prioritized artistic expression and personal voice over mass production.
